Welcome to the Missing Bean
The Missing Bean was founded by Ori and Vicky in 2009 to establish a speciality coffee scene in the heart of Oxford. After discovering the laid back espresso bars and cafés that they had grown to love, while studying in Australia, were non-existent in the city they decided to set up their own.
Five years later, with a reputation for excellent coffee, sustainable production and a friendly relaxed atmosphere, we set up our own roastery in East Oxford. Here we carefully source beans from around the world that we roast and sell as single origin or in a variety of blends.
Today, we are proud to be part of Oxford’s ever-growing coffee scene and thankful to the hardworking people of Oxford who support us at our Turl Street HQ, the Roastery and from our pop up cafés across the city.
14 Turl Street
Tucked away on Turl Street is our main cafe. Here we serve our custom house blend as well as a rotating selection of single origin coffees. Our home brewing equipment is available to buy in the cafe where we can also grind beans to order. We serve a range of sandwiches prepared in house and made with freshly baked bread sourced from local Oxford bakeries, as well as a number of homemade cakes on offer, with vegan and gluten free options available.
66-72 Magdalen Road
After five years serving coffee in Turl Street, we started to roast our own speciality coffee, giving us the freedom to source the coffees that really pique our interest. At the Roastery, you can purchase our single origin selections or house blends as beans, ground, to go, or to drink in with a homemade cake. For coffee enthusiasts, we run regular cupping nights.
241 Marston Rd
We teamed up with the Dodo team to bring some good coffee into Marston. At the UIA we run our own coffee shop where we serve up our fresh coffee along with our usual selection of pastries and cakes. You can also purchase coffee for home use as well as home brewing equipment. We also offer 10% discount to students and NHS staff. Come check us out!
We carefully choose coffees from around the world based on unique flavours and sustainability. When sourcing our beans we use independent green bean importers who value close long term partnerships between coffee growers and roasters, but where possible, we strive to develop our own strong direct trade relationships.
