About the Beans : Burundi - Migoti Hill Lot 12

Migoti’s vision is to connect local coffee farmers with international buyers and roasters through quality coffee processing and transparent supply chains.

The washing station employs ten permanent employees, along with over two hundred and fifty seasonal workers, most of whom are women. They also reach out to farmers in order to provide education on the proper maintenance of coffee trees, which in turn contributes toward increased crop yields and quality.

Our head roaster, Emilie, went out to visit the Migoti farm, famers and community back in 2022 and she was taught about all parts of the process by Dan, Pontien and Zephryn. One of the unique practices that stuck in her mind was the women dancing on the pulped coffee beans in order to help remove more of their muselage. The song of the workers doing this can be heard echoing across the community. You can read more about Emilie's visit here - https://www.themissingbean.co.uk/blogs/direct-trade/burundi-migoti-hill.

Thanks to the guys at Omwani, we’re fortunate enough to be able to roast these excellent beans each year and continue our relationship with the Migoti Hill region and it’s hardworking people.
