About the Beans : Kenya - Gloria Anaerobic - Direct Trade

We’re delighted to share, that after several years of working directly with Sakami Gloria, the farm has been able to invest in some major upgrades.

As a result, the prices we pay for our Kenyan coffees are more expensive than last year, but we’re proud to pay it! Rather than the result of market swings, this is the result of deliberate choices. They’ve invested in higher wages, stronger farm structures, full quality control, and long-term investments that put people and coffee first. As well as all this, they’ve also earned Rainforest Alliance certfication - a huge milestone.

Beyond wages and security, farm-level organization has improved, with dedicated managers ensuring quality and consistency. Implemented checklists and accountability are now used at every step of the process. The farm team now feels genuine ownership over their roles in the process, leading to productivity and job satisfaction at the same time.

Navigating this season wasn’t easy for anyone. Rising theft pushed many farmers to work more with parchment, pulling coffee off the drying beds as quickly as possible. Producing naturals suddenly meant taking serious risks. And still, they did. All for us to enjoy.
