About our specialty coffee beans

A lot of love goes into making our specialty coffee beans the best that they can be. Our coffee beans are carefully selected from unique regions across the globe, focusing on the finest and most exclusive varieties known for their distinct characteristics.

We strive to build direct relationships with farmers, fostering partnerships that endure. In cases where direct connections are not possible, we partner with independent green bean importers who share our commitment to long-term collaboration between coffee growers and roasters.

Fresh Coffee, Roasted Daily

Experience the difference that true freshness makes. Our fresh coffee beans are hand-roasted in small batches every weekday at our East Oxford roastery, ensuring you receive freshly roasted coffee beans at their absolute peak. Order by noon Monday to Friday, and your fresh roasted coffee beans will be dispatched the same day.

Why Freshness Matters

Fresh coffee beans lose their vibrant flavours within weeks of roasting. When you receive our freshly roasted coffee beans, you're getting coffee at its flavour peak - with all the complex notes and aromas the farmer intended. This level of freshness means you can enjoy the same cafe-quality coffee at home that professional baristas use.

Coffee Beans Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our freshly roasted coffee beans, from sourcing and roasting to delivery across the UK.

Our coffee beans

What makes your specialty coffee beans different from regular coffee beans?

Our specialty coffee beans are carefully selected for quality, flavour and traceability. Every coffee is chosen for its distinct characteristics and unique flavours. The result is a noticeably more complex and refined cup than commodity coffee.

Where do your coffee beans come from?

Our coffee beans are sourced directly from producers in Colombia, Kenya, Brazil, Nicaragua, Mexico, Peru and Thailand. We prioritise Direct Trade relationships, which means full traceability and fair prices for the farmers who grow our coffee.

Are all your coffee beans ethically and sustainably sourced?

Yes. We work directly with farms and farmers wherever possible, and only use trusted importers for origins that are harder to reach directly. In 2024–25, 60% of our coffee came from Direct Trade sources, and we're aiming for 80% by the end of 2026. You can read more about our direct trade relationships.

What is direct trade coffee, and why does it matter?

Direct trade means we buy coffee beans directly from the farmers or cooperatives who grow them, cutting out intermediaries. This gives farmers fairer, more predictable income and gives us full visibility of how and where our coffee is grown. It also means we can build long-term relationships that benefit quality on both sides.

Freshness & roasting

How fresh will my coffee beans be?

Very fresh. We roast specialty coffee beans every weekday at our East Oxford roastery, so your order will typically carry a roast date within two weeks of arrival. Freshly roasted coffee beans retain more of their complex flavours and aromas, which is why roast date matters as much as origin.

What does freshly roasted coffee beans mean?

It means your coffee has been roasted recently rather than sitting in a warehouse for weeks or months. Fresh roasted coffee beans are at their peak between 5 and 30 days after roasting.

Do you roast your own coffee beans?

Yes, all our coffee beans are roasted by hand at our roastery in East Oxford. We've been roasting since 2014 and roast every single weekday, so there's no sitting stock. Every bag is roasted fresh before it goes out the door.
